About Stainless Steel Instrument Tray with Cover for Hospital & Surgical Use
Surgical and dressing instruments need to be kept organised, clean and easy to reach. A stainless steel instrument tray with a cover gives staff a durable container for setting up procedures, carrying instruments between areas and storing them until use.
The tray supports instrument handling. It does not by itself make instruments sterile, and it does not replace the facility’s infection-control policy, validated sterilisation process or packaging standards.
An instrument tray with cover is a flat or shallow stainless steel tray with a matching lid. The tray holds instruments such as forceps, scissors, retractors, scalpel handles and dressing items, while the cover shields them from dust, droplets and accidental contact.
Trays with covers are used for procedure setups in wards, dressing rooms, minor OTs and clinics. The design, depth and lid fit vary between manufacturers.
A plain covered tray is mainly used for setup, transport and short-term holding of instruments. It is not the same as a perforated sterilisation tray, a wrapped instrument set or a validated sterilisation container system.
If instruments are to be sterilised in a covered tray, the tray design must be suitable for the facility’s sterilisation method, and the packaging must follow the facility’s protocol and the autoclave manufacturer’s instructions. Confirm the intended use with the supplier before ordering.
