About Laboratory Microscope for Hospital, Diagnostic Lab & Research

The Laboratory Microscope is a compound optical microscope used to examine stained slides, blood smears, tissue sections and other specimens in hospitals, diagnostic laboratories, colleges and research settings. Depending on the model, it may have a monocular, binocular or trinocular head, a set of objectives, LED illumination and a mechanical stage. Divine Health Home Care supplies laboratory microscopes for hospitals, pathology labs, nursing homes and educational institutions. Available optics, features, accessories and prices depend on the exact model and configuration.

Many diagnostic and research tasks depend on seeing small structures clearly, such as cells in a blood smear, bacteria in a stained slide or tissue in a histology section. A laboratory microscope gives trained staff a stable and reliable optical system for this work.

The microscope supports laboratory examination. It does not replace validated test procedures, quality-control practices or the interpretation of results by qualified pathologists and laboratory professionals.

A laboratory microscope is a compound light microscope. It uses an objective lens and an eyepiece to magnify a specimen placed on a glass slide, with a light source below the stage to illuminate it. The total magnification is the objective magnification multiplied by the eyepiece magnification.

Different models are built for routine diagnostic work, teaching, advanced research or imaging. Features differ between manufacturers and between models, so confirm the exact specification before purchase.

The main optical parts are the eyepieces and a rotating turret (nosepiece) that holds several objectives. A typical laboratory configuration includes 4x, 10x, 40x and 100x objectives, with 10x eyepieces, giving total magnification from about 40x to 1000x. Exact objective sets vary by model.

The 100x objective is normally used with immersion oil for high-resolution work, such as blood film and microbiology slides. Check the objective type, numerical aperture and quality before ordering.

Modern laboratory microscopes commonly use LED illumination, which gives bright and even light, runs cooler and uses less power. Some models still use halogen lamps. Brightness control is usually provided, and some models have Köhler illumination with an adjustable field diaphragm and condenser.

Confirm the illumination type, power supply and whether a rechargeable or battery option is available if the microscope will be used where power is unreliable.
